Welcome - I am so glad to have you here. My approach to therapy is non-judgmental and person-centered. If you are looking for a place to feel seen, valued, and supported - this is right where you belong. I believe there are many ways to live in this world and to build relationships and grow families. Our differences are what make us beautiful. I value your role in the therapeutic process and believe you are the expert of your own life. My goal is to foster a safe environment where you can feel comfortable sharing without fear or judgement. I am here to walk alongside and support you in new and creative ways and empower you when life is difficult.
I have been working with individuals and families in various capacities since 2013. I graduated with my Master's degree in Social Work from Western Michigan University in 2021. I have experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, working within the child welfare/juvenile court system, and helping families to grow together and reach their goals. I am particularly passionate about working with children and their care providers to overcome adversity.
My areas of specialty include working with individuals and children who are in crisis, have a history of trauma, are dealing with anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, grief and loss, life transitions, adoption, caregiver fatigue, family dynamics, daily-living tasks, and stress management. I value an eclectic approach and I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, and Mindfulness.
I grew up in Wyoming, MI and as a student I was fueled by a drive to help others not feel alone or trapped in the past. This passion lead me to pursue my Bachelors in Psychology and Human Development at Central Michigan University - giving me a unique insight into not only psychological development but also social and physical development. I have worked in both in-patient and out-patient settings, where the experiences I have gained have been invaluable in allowing me the ability to work with most problems. I have now gained multiple years of private practice experience and enjoy working with a wide range of populations.
I have seen hundreds of clients during my time as an inpatient case manager and I feel strongly that with time and the right support and belief, anyone can work through their struggles and come out stronger. I believe in utilizing the skills of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and have great results from this model. I am also trained in EMDR. As an inpatient clinician I came to realize the potential that each individual has. Since high school it has been my goal to help others see this potential and be a source of guidance in turbulent times. I have experience with many psychological conditions including: PTSD, depression, dissociative identity disorder, anxiety, and anger.
